Swartz Creek won game #1 5-4. Mitchell Ryan earned the win pitching 6 innings of relief. Ryan allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 6. Trenton Sheick and Nic Sandlin each had 2 hits for the Dragons. For Goodrich, Nick Glowacki and Dan Broughton each had 2 hits while Doug Moors chipped in 2 RBI.

MATT LAY METRO HONORABLE MENTION
AS A JUNIOR THIS YEARS SENIOR MATT LAY RECIEVED METRO LEAGUE HONORABLE METION, SELECTED AS A PITCHER. MATT WAS DOMINANT ON THE MOUND AND HAD A HOT BAT THE LAST HALF OF THE SEASON. HE HAD AN ERA UNDER 3.00, AND LED THE DRAGONS TO 2 DISTRICT WINS. HE IS THE SON OF GREG & HELENE LAY AND BIGGER AND BETTER THING ARE EXPECTED THIS YEAR FOR THE HARD THROWING RIGHT HANDER.
NIC SANDLIN METRO HONORABLE MENTION
AS A JUNIOR SENIOR NIC SANDLIN MADE THE METRO TEAM HONORABLE MENTION AS A 3RD BASEMAN. NIC HIT .350 FOR THE SEASON STRIKING OUT ONLY 5 TIMES IN OVER 100 AT BATS. HE IS THE SON OF MATT & JOANN SANDLIN AND HAS ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS A TEAM LEADER AND HAS A FINE CAREER AHEAD OF HIM. HE WILL EXPLECTED TO PLAY A MAJOR ROLE THIS YEAR FOR THE DRAGONS.
MIKE SEYFFERT METRO HONORABLE MENTION
AS A JUNIOR NOW SENIOR MIKE SEYFFERT MADE THE METRO TEAM HONORABLE MENTION AS AN OUTFILEDER. HE HAS AN OUTSTANDING ARM AND THREW OUT A TON OF OPPOSING PLAYERS TRYING TO TAKE AN EXTRA BASE. MIKE HIT .350 AND ALSO EXCELLED ON THE BASEPATHS WITH OUTSTANDING SPEED. HE IS THE SON OF MIKE & CONNIE SEYFFERT AND WILL BE CALLED UPON THIS YEAR TO MAKE THE DRAGONS A METRO CONTENDER.

Congrats to the 2010 Captains for the Swartz Creek Dragons………Aaron Szabo, Nick Sandlin, Mike Seyffert, Matt Lay
These individuals have proved that they are not only capable of being leaders, but they proved that baseball was a priority over the winter. Arriving at the middle school for 6:00am workouts with near perfect attendance, always wanting to get into the gym to hit or throw, and always thinking of ways to improve our team is what these four individuals have in common. I look forward to these players leading the 2010 team to success…You should all be proud of your efforts so far this year!
